Newington Arena, owned by Black Bear Sports Group, Inc. is a multi-purpose sports facility located in Newington, Connecticut. Opened in 1997, the 77,000 square-foot facility includes two NHL-sized ice rinks. Additionally, the facility is home to a number of on-site businesses including Arena Golf, Future Fitness Training, The Pro Shop of Newington, The Arena Grill, and Elite Chiropractic. The ice rinks are complemented by party rooms that support a variety of corporate and community functions as well as group outings/field trips. The facility provides the community with various hockey and skate programs, public skating, drop ins, leagues, trade shows, and private rentals.

I wanted to pass on that ALL the kids have been raving to their friends and families about how nice their skating teachers are. Even though they spent a lot of time falling, they can’t wait to come back and they trust that you girls will be able to teach them how to skate. That’s says a lot, especially for my family. My daughters started out in private preschool & kindergarten and had no qualms about coming home every day and saying “I’m never going to learn anything!”(just a small part of the reason we decided to pull them out and homeschool).
Home School Program
Thank you very much for the wonderful day you provided to our students from the Bureau of Education and Service for the Blind. You and your staff went above and beyond in order to understand the learning style of students with Visual Impairments. The one-on-one opportunities you gave to our students were invaluable and opened up a whole new dimension for them. We have received many compliments on how the day was run and organized from the students and their parents. They especially enjoyed the craft that was provided as well as the afternoon skating session when so many of them were able to get on the ice independently. The Zamboni was a hit as well. Please thank your entire staff for their work with our students. Many are already asking for a return visit!

Thank you so much for all your help in making our Girl Scout Skating Day a success !!! Your staff was so wonderful with all the girls and in accommodating us with whatever we needed!! I have heard tons of POSITIVE feedback and we will definitely make this an annual event, if that’s okay with you!!!! Thank you so much for everything!!! Our girls will be able to have a beautiful “fly up” ceremony with the funds that we raised. You guys are fabulous !!!
