Pro Crease Goaltending, LLC (PCG) is the largest instructional hockey organization dedicated solely to goaltending in the Connecticut, New York & New Jersey area; the company also serves organizations and academic institutions in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. PCG was founded in 2008 by Jared Waimon who serves as PCG’s owner/founder. Along with a staff of twenty (20) premier goaltending instructors, PCG provides a wide range of services from summer and year- round camps to elite private instruction for prep schools, Division I colleges and youth organizations.
Our camps and instructional sessions are operated at premier facilities including Quinnipiac University, South Kent School, Avon Old Farms School, Westminster School and select public facilities including Chelsea Piers Connecticut (Stamford) and Newington Arena. Our summer camp population is approximately 400-500 students while our year-round camps and semi and private population is an additional 200 students.
Owner/Founder Jared Waimon is currently the Goaltending Scout for the 2020 Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning. Prior to joining the Lightning, Waimon was the Goaltending Coach at Quinnipiac University for five years. During his tenure at Quinnipiac, the Bobcats advanced to the NCAA National Tournament three times and in 2016 they played in the National title game. Both goaltenders under Waimon’s tutelage signed NHL contracts. In 2016 Michael Garteig signed with the Vancouver Canucks and in 2019 Andrew Shortridge, after being named an NCAA All American, signed with the San Jose Sharks. Waimon’s history of winning extends back to his time with Trinity College where he served as the Goaltending Coach for 9 years. During this time the Bantams won a NCAA D3 National Championship, multiple NESCAC Championships and developed three different NCAA All Americans. On the private side, Jared trained 2018 13th overall Florida Panthers draft pick, Spencer Knight since age 10. Knight most recently won the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championships.
Matt Michno, who joined PCG in 2014, utilizes his Master’s Degree in Coaching from Ohio University on a daily basis as PCG’s Director of Coaching. In addition to his role with PCG, Matt is the goaltending instructor/consultant for several nationally ranked elite travel teams and prep schools including the Mid Fairfield Youth Hockey Association, Avon Old Farms, Salisbury School, Taft School and Westminster School.
PCG instructors serve as assistant and goaltending coaches for a number of colleges and universities including Boston College, Brown University, Cornell University, Trinity College and UCONN. In addition, a number of recent PCG clients have been drafted and/or signed as free agents and play professionally including Michael Garteig (Vancouver Canucks; Quinnipiac University) and Steve Michalek (Minnesota Wild; Harvard University).
We have developed promotional relationships with premier consumer brands in their respective categories from hockey “tools-of-the-trade” companies such as Vaughn Hockey to consumer brands including Gatorade, Quaker Oats, Mutti and Wesco Sports.
