Bridge Program – Winter 2021
For Learn To Skate Basic 5 and above
A Bridge Program is an important middle step between Learn To Skate and becoming a competitive figure skater. Our bridge program is designed to teach skating skills at a faster pace in a group lesson format and to introduce the benefits of club membership, while creating friendships and exploring the sport of figure skating.
Skating Director, Serhii Vaypan, and Asst. Skating Director, Sarah Carney, will offer an 8-week program from January 22nd to March 12th on Fridays; priced at $175.
- 45 minutes of on-ice instruction (Basic Skills; Freestyle Skills; Advanced Skills; Spins; Jumps)
- 30 minutes of off-ice instruction (each week will include one of the following: Ballet; Stretching; Off-ice training)
- Skate rentals (email fineredgefsc@hotmail.com if you are in need of skate rentals)
- No walk-ons or make-up classes
Assisted instruction by club's only regional and sectional competitive figure skaters.

 Newington Arena Covid 19 Guidelines
- Players will be allowed entry to the building 30 minutes prior to their ice rental time and will be required to exit 20 minutes after their rental. For games, teams can warm up outside.
- Will be encouraged to arrive (partially) dressed to access the ice and to minimize the use of the locker rooms.
- Locker rooms have been marked with social distancing. 10 players per locker room.
- Upon arrival, players shall enter the locker room and stay in the room until ice is ready
- Limit close coach and player contact.
- Limited number of spectators will be allowed in the building (1 parent/guardian per player)
- Face masks are required in lobby area and in spectator area of the arenas (not required on ice)
- Social distancing by spectators is required
- Absolutely no playing of ball hockey in rink corners
- Children must be attended to at all times and not allowed to run around unsupervised in the rink
- Newington Arena will abide by all requirements set forth by the State of CT regarding players quarantining upon return from travelling
- NO SHARING OF WATER BOTTLES
- NO SPITTING ON THE ICE OR IN LOCKER ROOMS
- IF YOU ARE SICK, STAY HOME

This is a three-step process:
Step 1.
Please go to the Newington Arena customer portal site at:

You will need to set up an online account, by selecting Create Account from the top right of the homepage.
Here you will enter in your contact information for the parent account.
Once you get to the bottom of that page, you will then add in any minor family members who will be skating.
After submitting your information, you will now be logged in.
Step 2.
Once logged into the Newington Arena customer portal site:
https://newington.maxgalaxy.net/Home.aspx
Select Membership from the top menu bar. Here you will be able to search for the available passes for each program:
Speed Skating
10 pass
20 pass
24 Pass
Select the Purchase button next to the pass that you will be purchasing. If you are only purchasing one session, you will not need to purchase a pass. Just proceed to step 3 and select your time and you will be charged for a single session at checkout.
If you are purchasing a pass, add the pass to the shopping cart and then checkout.
Step 3.
Sign into Newington Arena Customer Portal site:

Once on the main page, please select the Registration tab on the top menu bar.
There should be four options here; Freestyle, Pick Up Hockey, Speed Skating and Hockey Skills. Select Speed Skating
This should bring up a screen of the first block of ice to be booked. We will be releasing the ice booking system 2 weeks prior to the start date of that block.
Select the green register button which will take you into the calendar of all sessions.
On the top below the skaters name, there is drop down to select the pass that you will be using. If you have multiple passes, you would be able to pick which one you wanted to use. If you do not select the pass, then the system will charge you again.
Then scroll down and select the sessions that you would like to register for.
After selecting the sessions, please select continue.
This will then bring up a screen that lists all the sessions that you selected. You will have to accept the waiver then press Add to Cart
This will then put those classes into your “Shopping Cart”
The final step would be to checkout from the shopping cart.

Our club provides a safe and structured environment where children can learn ice skating in fun and creative ways. We would be thrilled to have you join us.
Only Basic 1 - 6 Levels will be offered at this time due to COVID-19 restrictions
The Details:
This program for Basic 1 – 6 levels is an 8-week program from January 22nd to March 12th each Friday, priced at $135. Class instruction will be conducted by the Club’s Skating Director, Serhii Vaypan, Asst. Skating Director, Sarah Carney, along with our regional and sectional competitive skaters. Additional details are as follows:
- 40 minutes of on-ice instruction
- 10 minutes of free time to practice your skills

| Newington Arena HOCKEY SKILLS Pre-Registration Open Hockey Skills:
Practice sessions for hockey players of all ages. Helmet and Skates are the only requirements to participate. These are unstructured sessions. Players can work on their skills in a small area of the ice.
Newington Arena will be requiring pre-registration for all hockey skills sessions. The following directions must be followed in order to reserve a spot during a hockey skills session. NO WALK IN'S WILL BE ALLOWED:

| Finer Edge FSC Bridge Program | Speed Skaters from Newington Arena compete at Nationals Speedskaters trained at Newington Arena, by Elena Sklutovsky, recently competed at Nationals in Verona, WI. Several skaters received individual medals and the men's team won the 3000m Relay. Congratulations to all skaters !!!!!

| Internationally acclaimed ice dancers train at Newington Arena Emily Monaghan and Ilias Fourati are Senior Ice Dancers representing Hungary internationally. They have competed at numerous international competitions, and are the 1st Christmas Cup silver medalists. They train at the Newington Arena with their coaches, 2006 US Winter Olympians Melissa Gregory and Denis Petukhov.

| Newington Arena....Home of the Hartford Braillers | Speed Skating Returns to Newington Arena We are extremely happy to have speed skating returning to Newington Arena this fall. Please check our schedule for speed skating sessions.
At US Speedskating, from pond to podium, we envision a sport where all ages can experience the thrill of speed and the camaraderie of the skating community. Speedskating is the fastest human-powered sport in the world. To date, US Speedskating has won 88 Olympic medals, making it the most successful winter sport in the U.S.
Speedskating practice(short track) in Newington will be focused on developing skating skills, understanding strategy and tactics of the sport. Short track Speedskating is often referred to as NASCAR on ice.
In order to safely participate in our session, every individual will need the following equipment:
skates, helmet, knee pads, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and long pants.
Our Coach, Elena Sklutovsky, is a level 3 USS certified Coach with more then 10 years of experience. She has a long record of developing many National and International level competitors.
| Newington Arena Holiday Ice Show The Newington Arena Holiday Ice Show was a huge success with over 40 performances. Thank you to Michelle Nowick for coordinating the event and Brittany Schon and the many coaches who contributed to the show. Great job by all performers !!!!
| Congratulations Nick Bonino & Ron Hainsey Stanley Cup Champions Newington Arena athletes and Connecticut natives Nick Bonino & Ron Hainsey will be having their names etched on the Stanley Cup! Nick, Ron and their fellow Pittsburgh Penguins teammates are the 2017 Stanley Cup Champions!
Newington Arena is the proud training home to both Ron and Nick in the off-season.
Both athletes have done their off-ice training at Pete Asadourian’s Future Fitness Sport Specific Training facility for years as well as regulars in the College-Pro Hockey camp that runs every August at Newington Arena.
Congratulations to Nick and Ron on a great season and an amazing playoff run.
